Salomon Men’s Speedcross 4 Trail Running Shoes – Get the right size and these are fantastic for countryside walking
Bought as a non goretex spare set. I do a lot of running so need a pair drying and a pair to wear. I’m hoping i can get a year out of these doing it this way as i average 1100km in 6 months. These will be my 7th pair of speedcross trainers, 2nd non goretex lined. They are a narrow fit but break in reasonably quickly. They give good foot support on trails and the uppers tend to give in before the soles if used as trail and cross country shoes.
Incredibly comfortable and stylish. They’ve been put through their paces and come out with top marks. I want to wear them all day, every day. They fit [me, anyway like a glove – more so than any other shoe i’ve owned. The quick-tie system makes you not want to use laces ever againthe quality is excellent and i’ll be buying them again. ]
I love these trainers and use them for walking the dog in the plantations. The sizes are slightly smaller however once worn in they are fine. I would maybe suggest half a size bigger so you can were them with a thicker sock. I would also say that these don’t quite seem to be as water proof than the black ones i have but not sure why that would be?.Only thing i could think of was that as they are a bit small i have stretched the stitching. Anyway still a great trainer.
- Probably one of the Best on the Market
- Perfect for Tough Mudder
- 1/2 a size bigger!
Arrived quickly and we’ll packaged. But unfortunately even though i already have another salomon all terrain shoe in size 10 that fit perfectly these didn’t. 5uk and in this design of shoe i think a 10. It was however not possible just to swap sizes as you would in a shop.
Ordered a size 11 and the fit was spot on. Used them for walking in a local mountain area. I would always get blasters in walking shoes but not with these trainers.

I’ve tried it in the store before buying here. I would recommend 1/2 size up than what you normally wear. It’s tight at the begining but it holds the foot nicely and i find it very comfortable over 12.
Owned various boots by solomon. Only downside is they are not very waterproof.
I love the style of the shoe, but that are to narrow for i would say any normal sized feet, felt ok to with but over an hour of use my feet started to ache really bad, for someone on there feet all day not good really, unsure weather to return now as they’ve been worn.
Perfect fit although i ordered half a size larger than my normal size. Just what i wanted and arrived very promptly. I would definitely use this company again.
Seem a narrow fit compared to the speedcross3, good shoe plenty of grip for off road.
This is the best shoe i have ever bought and i go through a lot. Great cushioning, amazing traction in all conditions, so comfortable i have worn them all day. Quicklace system is easy and fast. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed. I have bought another pair i like them that much. When you order go half a size or even a full size up, so if you are a 10 buy them in a 11.
These are great shoes but you do need at least a half size bigger than normal.
Had these for a week and worn every day for a 5/6 mile walk on pavements and off road. As others mentioned go for 1/2 a size larger than usual. A little tight width wise first off but now extremely comfy. Only negative is they are not as water resistant as i hoped. Get slightly damp feet walking through wet fields and long grass.
I have had salomon boots and trainers for many years and have never had any issues until i bought these. They are still great quality apart from 1 issue, there is a label on the back of the tongue which is made of very thick, sharp material which rubs against your ankle. This makes them unusable without long socks (they will rub through these eventually). I even tried sanding the edges of the label, but this just damaged the material near the label. I still use them with jeans, but not in the gym or for running. The last time i buy salomon.
Good off road trainer, only used a couple of times so far on a very muddy canal path but grip seems very good and comfortable on first 2 runs over 6 miles plus. I’m a 9 in asics running shoe and needed to go half a size up in these.
If i could sleep in them i would. Quite futuristic definitely order a size above what you are. Strange their sizing is this far out but the other reviewers are absolutely right.
I won’t be running in them; bought them to go with my original red, yellow and black, as new, original 12 year old berghaus mera peak jacket. I’m not so sure how long the sole would last before splitting if used for running.
Got a half size up than normal fit and this was the right choice. The shoe is snug with thick merino socks but the lace system allows you to loosen things up a bit and then tighten as needed. Just used them walking in the peak district for an initial 20k walk and they were great, not really waterproof but very grippy on all terrains.
As usual superb from salomon. The grip on this version is just amazing, honestly when jogging i can access any elevation with confidence. I also love walking in them, and with autumn upon us should make slipping on wet leaves minimal. Superb service from the sellers, a little disappointed i had to pay for return of the 1st one we bought due to size being too small. We bought a cheaper brand which was a disaster. This out performs even joggers twice the price.
I’d read the reviews and am aware that solomon’s are often on the small size. Ordered 1/2 size over what i wanted and they fit fine. If you want to wear thick socks, go a full size above.
Really good for runny off road and across muddy fields. Keeps feet dry unwell pretty much fully submerged. I have put in the wash a few times and they come out spotless without any apparent issues. Laces a bit fiddly, not sure if really any better than conventional laces, but i did get used to them. (you do not tie the laces but instead put a plastic clips tight against the laces.
Second pair of these i have had. Great fell running shoe with an aggressive tread that is spaced to allow mud to come off.
Ordered a half size bigger as i have owned other models.
